Disc Brake Rub

My hydro disc brakes are rubbing again. and its driving me mad.
I am right in thinking that it doesn’t matter how hard you tighten the skewer from whatever side on the wheel as to the balance of the pad distance to the rotor?
This has been an ongoing problem since i bought the bike last spring. Is the only solution adjusting the calliper position (of which i have no idea :-0)? The bikes done a tonne of miles now so its definitely not a pad bedding in problem.
Can i adjust the pad to rotor distance by adjusting the skewer from either side of the wheel?
Or do i have to start moving the calliper etc???
Cheers.

Quite a few similar posts under this one that will be worth reading too.
Check the rotor isn't warped first.
Also what brakes? Have the pads worn evenly? Do the pistons retract evenly?0 -
diatreck brakes? (bike hut) and the rotors are not warped
to be honest ive been too scared to start stripping the brakes down as ive never done it before. even pad wear and sticky pistons had crossed my mind (i have veiwed previous posts). i feel like a bit of a numpty asking when i havent explored all avenues but i guess i'm just hoping that theres a rational explanation to save me stripping my brakes down
i'm supposed to be going out on sunday (newcastleton), only noticed the problem last night after a ride and really want to try to fix the issue before i go out again.
its not the end of the world if i dont have it fixed, but blimey it makes work that much harder!0 -
every time you remove the wheel you will not get it back the same way and the pads will rub a bit.
they should then re settle and be fine.
worst case push the pads back and then pull the lever a few time to reset the pads.
then test the brakes work before riding."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

so with the wheel off, push the pads back then refit the wheel and pump the lever?
sticking to the bike rack from now on!0
