  • I have Shimano R500's at the moment.

I'm looking for a lighter pair and something that will be stronger as i have found them pretty weak so far.

    I will get searching.

I'd go for RS80's assuming you're not looking for something very aero or featherweight

    Easton - EA90s?

  • Yeah I had already been looking at the EA90s, they seem to be a decent deal.

Have just been looking at some DT Swiss RR 1450 Wheels. They look really good and have some great reviews. Opinions on them would be great. Bit over budget but that shouldn't matter too much.
Have found them for £625 for the pair.

the DTs are very similar to a handbuilt though, aren't they. And you could get a storming pair of handbuilts for quite a bit less than £600.

Factory wheels have got to offer smething a handbuilt can't. Otherwise they're just overpriced (and handsome), basically.

I have Mavic Ksyrium Equipes on my CR1 Team. They suit the frame really well. They do flex a little when putting the power down on climbs but I'm impressed with them overall.

Plus they come in well under budget :D

  • If you are heavy - Fulcrum 3's or 1's, if you want aero (and still ok for heavy riders) Mavic cosmic carbone, if you are light then DA carbon 50's, eastons, ksyriums etc should all give you something extra.

I have a pair of DT Swiss 1900's (instead of fulcrum 3's) and very stiff they are too ( Im 98 kgs), thoiugh not the lightest wheelset on the planet
