Hi, im in the process of building up a giant xtc. after some fairly easy choices im now struggling to choose grips!
I have a fsa carbon bar and was thinking of yeti or lizard skins lock on grips.
However their is so much choice! also is it worth the extra price and weight or is that ott? can you guys shed some light please.

These are pretty good, shouldn't damage yer carbon either.Pictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.

I use ODI Lock On's with Cane Creek bar ends so I can change my hand position periodically and they're very comfortable. Bar ends....they're the futureLap by lap analysis, videos, photos, race reports and a map of race locations www.xcenduro.co.uk0

Bar ends with a riser bar - is that silly or a workable setup?0

I retrofitted these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=4767 to my Giant XTC 3.5 and they're great.'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0

Depends on your outlook. Some people wouldn't dream of putting bar ends on a riser bar. I (and others) find them very comfortable, particularly in long races or rides. I like to be able to change hand positions from time to time and I like being able to pull\swing the bike about on climbs or when I'm putting in a sprint.Lap by lap analysis, videos, photos, race reports and a map of race locations www.xcenduro.co.uk0 -
I use a £7 Bontrager old school foam grip... cheap as chips, they last for ages, easy to get off, and the weigh fook all!!
I have replaced all the lock grips that have come with any new bikes i have purchased. I find them bulky and not in the least comfortable.'to give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift' Steve Prefontaine

Ah ok didn't spot you were on risers.
I have used risers for years, but do still miss having bar ends there for longer climbs.
May have to try a set on my riser, just worried the fashion police will arrest me, if they give chase I will just have to head for the nearest uphill!0 -
i used bonty foam grips they wiegh nothing but spin on carbon bars ive since used various lock ons with no probz .0

Remember a riser (given the same sweep and length) does exactly the same as a higher rise stem and flat bar. Latter probably lighter too!
Only the fashion police say you can't put bar ends on risers.0 -
I use ODI Xtreme Lock on grips, got them cheap on Ebay and they are great, you will need to wear gloves with them though !0

I use the ritchey WCS grips with Cane Creek II bar ends on Ritchey WCS carbon riser. The grips look rubbish on it but for longer races/rides they are excellentDaveb0

Yeah that would be great, am interested to see how the bar ends look with that bar, and even the grips.
I have the bar, and am considering the grips and those bar ends.
Thanks!0 -

Thanks daveb - am I right in thinking thats the low rizer you have?
Mine is the rizer - so more of a rise.
Looks good though - may get a set and try them out, if I don't like them etc, flog them on here or ebay.
Thanks 8)0 -
