Installing Dura Ace 10sp Bar End Shifters
Having trouble with the rear shifter as it only goes through 4 clicks in its lever range from straight ahead to pointing up. I assume it should be 9 or 10 clicks over its range?
When i was feeding the cable through, the lever assembly came apart and there is a black metal "washer" with indentations and a raised bit. The indentations engage with the rest of the assembly as it goes together but will only seem to go one way due to their different size ,like cogs fitting on a rear cassette.
I'm assuming ive got it together wrong somehow but cant see why and the only diagram ive found on here shows the complete lever assembly. The instructions that came with it dont show an exploded view.
Anyone have a link to a better diagram that might help?
Thanks.

Thanks, ive seen that diagram and it doesn't show the washer in question which sits it the lever housing itself on the oppsite face to the friction control ring.
Edit, sorry , yes it is before connection to the rear mech.0 -
I'm up to 9 clicks after reassembling the main body of the lever so i'll connect the mech up and see how it goes.
Cheers.0 -
I had a similar problem with these... why Shimano can't supply them fully assembled I don't know. It's not like you have to assemble the internals of an STI bfeore you can fit it.
9 clicks is correct BTW: you start on sprocket 1, the 9 clicks allow you to shift to sprockets 2-10, giving you 10 in all.0 -
Thanks for the confirmation, it's all working now bar some minor tweaking.0

I'm not sure if I emailed you yesterday but I saw your post regarding the duraace shifter for barends. I'm trying to figure out where the washer with the metal piece that sticks out where it goes. I would truly appreciate any help. THanks- Jon0
