Fitting Cassettes

I'm in the process of fitting a new Campagnolo cassette to new wheels and am getting conflicting advice on how hard to tighten the lock nut.

One set of advice I've had is to tighten until I've heard or felt 3 or 4 distinct clicks. Unfortunately, when I tighten I can feel, but not hear, slight clicks as soon as I start to tighten.

Please advise, preferably not referring solely to torque settings - although probably the answer - as I don't have a working torque wrench!

Regards.

Don't worry about "clicks", that depends whether the lock ring is serrated or flat.
Just do it up fairly tight ie, tighten until it removes all free play in the cassette and give it another quarter turn.

    Just put one on,

Instructions say 36 lb / ft of torque, but as thats no use to you, I was surprised at the amount of leverage it actually was

As per topdude, pull it up snug + about another 1/4 turn, you can always tighten it again should you need to.

    Cheers,
