recommending shoes is a bit like recommending saddles - what is good for one may not suit someone else.

light and stiff will never be 'cheep' though. or even 'cheap'....
  • define 'cheap'.

anyway, go for comfort over lightness, stiffness and even cheapness. if they hurt, you won't use them, no matter how light, stiff and cheap (or not).

where in the uk are you? come to chain reaction or go to your nearest lbs with the biggest range of cycling shoes to try on whatever ones you like to get the best fitting.

I've got the BG Comp and they're probably the nicest, most comfortable road shoes I've ever worn - but trying on is the only way to be certain...

Specialized shoes may be good, but I'm between sizes so they've never suited me. I just bought some Bontrager shoes which feel very nice.

snap - I just got a pair for £79.99 from Primera. Better fit than my old Shimano shoes however I do agree with others who said that you really need to try them. I had spesh spd shoes before so was familiar enough with their sizing and fit to order online with confidence.

Brilliant shoes, I thought my 4 year old Carnacs were good but they are embarrassing compared to these at £79.99 great value(2007?). With the carnacs it was £150 for a pair of clogs.
  • I've just bought a pair of these
