Campag 9 speed shifters with 10 speed mechs/cassetes etc

Hi,

I have a great set of Campy Record 9 speed shifter levers and a full set of 10 speed mechs and a spare 10 speed wheel and crankset. Can I just use the 9 speed shifters and miss out the high or low gear in the cassette cluster ?? Or is there something else I can do ? I seem to remember reading I can get the 9 speed levers reset to do 10 speed, something about a friction wheel if i remember correctly.....

Any ideas ???

9 speed shifters will not index with a 10 speed cassette as the spacing is different, though everything else will work. You may need a 10 speed chain as the cage on the mech is narrower than on the 9.

You can get the shifter upgraded to 10 speed by Mercian cycles, or you can find some spacers from a 9 speed and junk one of the sprockets.

A 9 speed ergo will work a 10 speed rear mech fine with a 9 speed cassette, alternatively you can get a 10 speed ratchet fitted.
