Does anyone know if I'm likely to have any problem using Campag calipers with my Dura Ace 7800 levers? Apart from aesthetics and the usual one side of the fence or the other re: Campag / Shimano are there any mechanical incompats?

Am looking to upgrade from my basic Tektros to something with a bit more force.

Cheers,

Dan.

  • Mechanically you should have no problems, I'm running Campag levers and Shimano calipers on my winter bike. You'll have problems opening the calipers to remove the wheel because for Campag the release mechanism is in the lever and for Shimano it's on the caliper. Why not just buy Shimano calipers they'll give you as good stopping power as Campag.

The lack of a quick release is the main problem - if you set the barrell adjuster, a couple of turns should give enough slack - depends on the width of tyres you're running and whether you want to quick wheel changes e.g. racing.

uintil recently, I was running chorus calipers with Ultegra levers - no problems fitting/removing wheels up to 25mm - unless you like to run the pads really close to the rims, then it might be an issue...
