When bikes decide to blow up...

My 2007 Stumpjumper has been nothing but reliable with about 3-3500 miles on it.
Suddenly it's all going wrong:
Entire drivetrain wore out so replaced the shifters, cables, crank, chain, freewheel. Worked fine but cost a fair bit.
Now buckled (slightly) a rear wheel and for some reason the tyre (not very worn Conti MK Protection) has warped and needs replacing. Plus the rear hub needs stripping down.
I'm sure my old 1997 fully rigid steel Stumpjumnper was more durable than this?!!
Getting the latest work done at the LBS as I don't have time but reckon it'll be another £80 on top of the £300 I've just spent - ARGGGGHH!!!

Yep thats pretty good mileage !
My cars dont last that long0 -
That does seem quite a few miles but I know how you feel. Everything seems to go at the one time, sooooooo frustrating. My Commencal's wheel was buckled, got it fixed, the drivetrain was a night mare then the free hub went....new bike time said I. Always planned to get the Commie fixed up for a hack but...dont think I can justify it. Might make it a rigid road based machine eventually.0

3500 miles on the same wheels!!! Personally think your bikes treated you rather well, although I do concede everything seems to go all at once.0 -
ivbe had a bike quite literally blow up on me. came over the brow of a hill with a mind to squeeze through the space in the stane dyke only to find the tuechter who owns the land had pulled it down and i went flying into what was, essentially, a big pile of rubble.
i found my right crank arm about 100 yards away.0
