Saddle bag

Tried searching the gear section of bike radar, and the forum here, but couldn't turn up anything too useful. I'm looking for a saddle bag that:

* doesn't loop round the seat post (my current one is making a mess of my post)
* holds about 350-500cc
* can be switched between two bikes pretty easily (don't mind buying an extra clip if needed).

Anyone have any ideas? I'm tempted by the Scicon 350 or 390 from Wiggle, but can't find additional clips for it. The Topeaks seem to attach to the seatpost as well as using a clip.

Thanks for any advice - in the meantime I'll return my Scicon 210 (forgot to allow space for my mini-pump :( )

Was thinking of getting the Scion 210 - is it big enough for tube, levers - & maybe a mobile?

I have the 210 Phantom - its great. I have a tube, tyre lever, patches, Lezyne multi-tool with chain tool, chain links - thats about all that will go in. A mobile might fit, if small, if you lost the tube or multi-tool.

    They do various other sizes.

I wanted a spare bracket for another bike, I emailed Scicon in Italy to ask if I could buy one, they said that postage would cost more than the price of the part so they sent me one completely free of charge, post free! The bags are great, the "Roller" fitting system great, and what brilliant customer service! Give them your money!!!

Don't think they do the 210 anymore, but they do the 230 according to their site anyway. Looks good.

My LBS had a Scott one (i think- its on another bike so i cant go check). It has an upper and a lower compartment. Its got enough space for a mini pump, two spare tubes, multi tool in the lower compartment, and a folded up waterproof or bunch of energy bars in the upper. I have used it on long day rides stuffed with supplies....

I'd avoid the scott ones, the stiching on the zips can be a bit iffy. Mine burst doing a drop MTBing and sprayed my stuff all over the place.

It ISNT the most durable looking thing i admit, but i only use it on the road, and despite being stuffed beyond all reasonable levels, nothings burst out yet!!

I have used the larger of the Topeak Aero Wedge seatpacks (not the new expanding ones) and they held my Crank Bros mini pump (which is quite small but excellent), multi tool, and one spare tube, at a squeeze. My toolkit is quite fat though, to be fair. They are only about £17 a piece from Ribble etc- buy one for each bike.

They do have a strap round the seatpost- i have put a ring of black electrical tape round where they attach on my seatpost to stop them wearing the finish- they are black posts so you have to look very closely to spot it under the strap.

Dustline - I did consider just protecting the seatpost, but applying tape to it feels almost as bad as letting the strap rub :) I'm trying to avoid having two, so that I don't have to keep switching the contents (I'd rather not buy a second mini-pump, mini-tool, etc).

I use the Toppeak aero wedge pack,

    http://www.topeak.com/lifestyle/road

It has a plastic fixer which attaches to a,

    http://www.topeak.com/products/Xtras/F11Fixer

which is screwed onto your bikes saddle rails.

You can purchase the F11 fixer seperatly and just swap the saddle bag and contents from bike to bike.

you dont need to use the velcro strap that goes round the seat post as the plastic clips seem to do a good job on their own.

It's a shame you have to pay out for a fixing implement for the Topeak one, should be all in one as the Scicon is imo. Hope it's worth it.

I got a Topeak large wedge bag; hadn't bothered with the seatpost strap till I read this post!
Was worried it was partly obscuring my Cateye LD1100 rear light which was attached to the seatpost beneath the bag, then remembered the light had also come with a belt / clothing clip. Dug it out of my bits drawer and the light's now attached to the loop on the back of the bag and once again very visible

giant - I think the fixer comes with it, but it's easy to get another one, unlike the scicon :)
