just brought a new ribble nero corsa with campag centaur . great bike gears shifted fine when i got it in december but now when i shift down the cassette to high gears it hesitates before shifting i have tried adjusting the cable adjuster but still not as smooth as it was any ideas or will it just settle down in time.

  • This is usually caused by corrosion in the small bit of cable which enters the Rear Der. The loop there makes this vulnerable to hanging up and preventing the RD from reverting to the default position on the smallest sprocket. Best to dismantle the cable and replace or as a bodge, pull outer from the cable-stops, releasing the outer, slide the outer along the now slack cable and lube the inner with lightgrease and the outer with oil. The cable when replaced in the cable-stops, should not need adjusting but a proper job may mean replacing the outer and inner cables.

Thanks for advice will read the parktool site . Thanks onbike but the bike is only 6 weeks old so don/t think it will be corrosion.

probably just the cable "bedding in" abit, just increase the tension slightly see how it goes.
