Alfine with drop bars

Since there is now a way (at last!) to use Shimano Alfine on a bike with drop bars (thanks to http://jtekengineering.com/jtek_bar-end_shifter.htm) I'm planning to rebuild my commuter and I've got couple of questions for you knowledgible guys.
I'd like to have 1/8" drivetrain.
The alfine has a track chainline - 42mm and the sprocket is 3/32". Can you get 1/8" sprockets which would fit? Also dished ones would be preferable, to have some flexibility with the chainline.
Now the cranks - I have a spare road double with external BB (Race Face Cadence) for which I'm planning to get a 1/8" 44T chainring (outer). Would the chainline be OK? What is the acceptable tolerance for the chainline?
Cheers

Are you sure on the 42mm chainline? Seems odd for a hub with 130-135mm OLN. My rule of thumb for using a double crankset for a 42mm chainline is 110mm BB with chainring mounted on inside.

Yes, it's odd but that's what Shimano say.
And I've found a suitable outer track chainring so that's why I want a dished sprocket to extend the chainline to something like 46mm.
