SRAM / Shimano compatibility (interoperability?)
I have several sets of wheels which I tend to swap around between my Shimano equipped bikes. I like being able to switch my GatorSkin shod "training wheels" in quickly and easily if it's a cr*ppy wet day and I want to minimise rim damage and puncture risk.
If I equip my planned new best bike with SRAM, will I be able to use all of my wheels / cassettes as I do now? Ideally without having to swap cassettes...? Or will I have to have some SRAM-bike only wheels (as I would with a Campag bike)?
[before anyone asks, I'm aware of the need to match chain and cassette wear btw]

Shimano and SRAM cassettes are interchangeable for 9spd. Not tried it for 10spd.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

Compatible.
The shifters and mechs are not compatible between Shimano & SRAM, so you'd need a set of those, but the cassettes are interchangeable.
In fact, there seems to be quite a trend for manufacturers to supply their compact chainset 10sp Shimano bikes with a SRAM 11-28 cassette, because it gives a bit more range at both ends than Shimano 12-27, albeit with bigger gaps0
