Was going to but the KCNC Skeres that are 42g a pari, but saw that Lightweight Skewers were even lighter.

Will these be ok on Bonty Race Light wheels on my Madone 5.2?

If you want to go really light try these not really a qr, but quick enough...
  • Don't save weight on quick release, it's our life at stake. SOme have a very poor locking mechanism, especially the very light ones.

Sadly in UK it's hard to find Shimano and Campagnolo ones, which are by far the best available.
Mavic ones are good and I think they're internal cam, which is what matters. Have a look at what Sheldon Brown has to say about it

And how heavy is the spanner you need to carry in your back pocket?

Do you really think a pair of skewers that probably weigh less than the amount of fluid in your bladder or eating a bit less cake in the week is going to magically get you up a mountain. Similarly, instead of dreaming of some 'lighter' wheels, lose a kilo of body weight, practise climbing and make sure you have suitable gearing.

normally a common sense reply, but.........

weight as low as will ever get (lost 4 stone) and now 12 stone and 6 ft.

fitness is good and still getting better
    got carbon ti pedals

can't afford new wheels as tp improve Race Lights I think would need to spend £500.

If I had lighter tyres, inner tube and skewer would all help a bit or not worth extra £200?

Skewers not worth the upgrade unless you're current ones are made of lead and weigh 2kg

Tyres and tubes yes - rotational mass and lower rolling resistance. paid of ProRace and Ultralight Tubes about £70.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

agree with slow-down - I replaced my cheapo tyres with the vittoria open corsa evos on offer at wiggle fir £47 / pair - was amazed at how lighter they are over the regular rubinos I had been using - over 120g each tyre lighter - throw in a couple of lightweight tubes and it would be possible to reduce 250 - 300g from your bike (all at the rim so rotational weight!) for under 60 quid - and to top it all off you should get less rolling resistance and plusher ride!

those Tune skewers are well sweet - if you have £69 burning a hole then get them!
