Is it just me or is BRT not 100% working all week when i click on the second point it hangs whilst trying to retrieve the elevation data, i know the site is free so can't really complain, its just i wanted to plan a route for saturday and have been unable.

Does anyone have a recomendation of an alternative site/product?

Just got a garmin 705 so I've been playing around with these sites a bit. I tried BRT but it does seem a bit clunky. Bikehike seems much easier to use but doesn't have many saved routes.

So for planning routes I'd use Bikehike but for riding pre-saved routes I'd download the routes from bikely then upload them to Bikehike and add coursepoints there.

I've just tried Bikehike. Why didn't I know of this before?!?

The elevation profile tool is brilliant. You can click on any part of the profile and it pinpoints it on the map. Now that is useful.

the elevation tool is the main reason i switched from brt,
although brt does have the tool to estimate how long your route will take.

Course points. It also, rather handily, gives you a running count of the number of course points on your route so you don't exceed the maximum of 100

I've always used gpsies, but this bikehike thing looks pretty useful.

    +1000 for bikehike.co.uk

I used to use mapmyride.com but it's full of adverts and slow. Bikehike does the same without the fuss, faster. Brilliant 8)

The elevation info is woefully inaccurate on anything that uses google maps,i`m afraid.

The fuse seems to have blown in the toaster at the moment, I agree.

I think that toaster gives the same results as straight google maps with the 'avoid highways' option ticked (at least it did every time I tested it).

I'm finding that mapmyride is buggy at the moment, making my routes loop back on themselves. :?

Will give bikehike a go. Having a quick look it looks perfect for what I need! :P

I've found that, but I've found bikehike more accurate than mapmyride, which is odd if they both use the same source :?

Total ascent and total descent are usually several hundred feet out, on rides which start and end at the same place.
