Who makes the best hubs? Chris King or Shimano XTR

Comments

  • Considering Chris King Iso's are 3 times the price of XTR M970 - I'd say Chris King. But are they 3 times better?
  • Mavic,

But out of those two, Chris King - they have a 10 year guarantee too.

Can't fault my Chris King headset.
Thought my other headsets were smooth until I felt the King in my Stumpy.

Couldn't possibly comment on whether I'll say the same in another 9yrs.
Stumpy, Rockhopper (stolen!) & custom SX Trail II - that should do it!

Thanks guys. I have Chris King hubs on my ti Merlin. 1 of the guys who rides with my club is always slating them. He rides XTR on his bike. Every week i hear him say hes heard another story about how bad King hubs are. It got to the point that I was starting to believe it. I asked at my local bike shop where i got the King hubs from and they said King hubs are much better, but they would say that as they cost more. I totaly agree with the guy on the King headset. I have 1 and its amazing. As for the DT Swiss hubs. Ive heard arguments for and against. I know some guys who prefer them and some who prefer King. I think its down to personal choice. I think i'll stick with Chris King.

I have a pair of CK ISO hubs. Obviously I'm more than a little biased, but go for the Chris King. They have tons of amazing colours - not just grey, they sound different, but most of all, they are stunning quality. Super-solid, amazing peices of machinery. Unbuilt, when you have the hubs, they are almost artwork.

Again, Chris King all the way. Suberb build quality, durability, and perfomance.
