Right, having crashed my bike a couple of days ago, I'm now on the hunt for a new helmet. the one I just wrote off is Boardman, which I think is fantastic and performed brilliantly prior to and in the crash. However, is there a better helemet for £60?

Cheers

Whoops, I guess you'll be on a deleting frenzy then!

Rudy Project make nice helmets, my Kontact is my nicest helmet to date, as long as they fit you.

The Specialized i use for mountain biking is also a very nice fitting helmet, but conversely Giro helmets would not fit me properly at all, all depends on head shape....

If you can, I'd go into a big shop and try a few on, or if your like me, and prepared to send em back if they don't fit, take a punt at some online, wiggle/crc etc etc

Catlike Compact Pro from Prendas Ciclismo for £60 - this is a top quality helmet and has an excellent retention / adjustment system. They're not too common either.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

A peak and sometimes styling, but they are essentially the same under the skin as far as I know.

I recently got a Met Veleno.

Obviously, now that I've bought one they're going cheap on Wiggle - about 55 quid.

Comfortable, light, and plenty of ventilation. It's a bit bling but I needed a new helmet quickly so I went for it and I'm very happy with it.

Edit: The peak is removable to make it look a bit more 'roadie', but it's handy for keeping some of the rain out of your eyes when its raining.

The best helmet is whichever fits you properly and that you'll wear, hlmets are like saddles, too many variables from person to person to rely on reccomendations.

But FWIW I have found that the make of helmet that best suits myhead is MET. Giro's seem to loose, Bell too oddly shaped, and Specialised just don't seem to fit.

    Absolutely.

Fit and comfort is more important than anything. Various brands have subtly different shapes. I tried Giro and Met models and a mate's Specialized but only the Bell Ghisallo and Sweep R felt snug and 'right' on my head. The Ghisallo got the nod as it was very similar to the Sweep R but £30 cheaper.
Aspire not to have more, but to be more.
