Hi all. I am currently building a bike and would like to put the full red groupset on but have heard mixed reviews about what hub is compatable with the OG1090 SRAM RED hub. Any help?

    Do you mean Cassette?

SRAM Cassettes are all Shimano freehub compatible.
  • There are actually two freehubs referred to as 'Shimano' or Hyperglide or HG by both manufacturers and retailers which is the root of the confusion. Fulcrum for example do two Shimano freehubs but for a while were very unclear on this.

One freehub (Dura Ace 2004-2007) is only compatible with a DA cassette (and will not take a SRAM 10-speed cassette) and the other is compatible with SRAM 10-speed and most other Shimano 10-speed. Shimano made the freehub splines deeper for DA but realised the folly of their ways and the 2008 and later (IIRC) DA hubs and wheels take and Shimano Hyperglide.

Some retailers don't know this so it's worth making sure they understand what you want to do when purchasing as some higher end wheels which are 'Shimano' are actually the DA only freehub version.
