I noticed that you have DT Swiss 1850, as do I. And an Izoard too...great combination !!
Was wondering if you've found anything that helps keep the white bits clean, or things you may have tried that didnt work.
I made the mistake of taking them out in mud and horse poo lanes......and it took ages to get them back to showroom condition !!
Was thinking of scrubbing them up and then give a coat of car polish....avoiding rims of course !

To be honest mate they haven't needed anything more than a sponge down or maybe a few pieces of kitchen roll to keep mine clean to date. I tend to use the Racing 3s for any ventures out on the Wilier on grimy days.
I intitially bought the 1850s as Shimano-splined back in July '07 and used them on my Allez fairly late into that year. I didn't abuse them but they did see some pretty crappy weather but nothing the above cleaning methods couldn't cope with.
In my experience most of the guff seems to be attracted to the stickers and the edges of. So far tis nothing a rag or a cotton bud hasn't been able to deal with - although I did toy with idea of taking the stickers off the rims.
Love the wheels though and I was happy enough to spend another £60 having them converted to Campag to run on the Wilier. I was slated a bit for spending £380 at the time for a set of nearly 1900g semi-aero wheels but they've since almost doubled in price and have remained completey true with minimal attention. Hubs are great and if I was to buy handbuilts I'd certainly put DT240S on the shortlist of thing to have rims laced to.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
I agree about them being quite heavy but you don't notice it do you. And I'm quite a heavy rider and they've not flexed at all.
I got them as a bargain for only £300 off ebay nearly new..0 -
Those look nice. I like. I want. I have no money"And the Lord said unto Cain, 'where is Abel thy brother?' And he said, 'I know not: I dropped him on the climb up to the motorway bridge'."
