Refillable Gas Canisters?

Never heard of such a thing. Cant see how it would work really.
A decent pump is better than CO2 unless its just for racing.0 -
Right.
I have a decent track pump but taking it out with me is unrealistic. I have a portable one but it can only go as far as 50psi before getting impossible to pump any more.
Is there a pump out there which is portable AND capable of 120psi? Loads of pumps say "max pressure of 160psi" etc - but getting there is unrealistic so it's hard to tell what's good and what's not.0 -
You'd need something with a large volume equal to the volume of yuor tyre if it is only to be filled to 120 psi. A CO2 cartridge is small and can fill a tyre to 120 psi but the gas in the cartridge is at a much higher pressure.0

A gas cyclinder pressurised to 120psi would only fill a tyre of half the volume of the gas cyclinder to 60psi.
The Topeak Road or Mountain Morph pumps will genuinely reach these pressures without too much difficulty. A very ergonomic design.0 -
Lezyne Pressure Drive. I've got the medium size. Gets to 100 psi fairly easily and a bit more effort required for 120 psi.
Nice design with the separate hose which doesnt put excessive pressure on the valve. Nice construction but a little pricey but that's soon forgotten when used in anger and it works 20 miles from home.0 -
Brilliant! thanks for the recommendations!0

I second the Topeak Road Morph, it's kind of like a mini-track pump. I do struggle much past 80psi with it but that's always been enough to be able to carry on the ride without having to be extra careful etc. (usually ride with 120psi though).0

120PSI is probably a bit too high anyway. I prefer 100 PSI these days.0

Co2 canisters are actually liquid which is under huge pressure.
Even with the best track pump you couldn't replicate this kind of refill
I use a mountain morph for my mtb but carry a SKS wese on my road bike along with a Co2 canister0
