can anyone help plz
i know it may be a dumb question but im completly clueless0 -
Can you give a link to the exact bike you have?
If the chainrings are removable, the answer is yes. Though you may need some sort of chain device to help keep the chain on, and a bash guard to protect it.
May be easier just to get the shop to swap it.0 -
Remove the front gear shifter, and as long as your chain rings are removeable - just remove them; quite a DIY job - there are specific cranksets available for this.0

I tried removing the big ring but the bolts were then too long with this off so a bash ring would be ideal (gonna do the same with mine)Lamborghini Forza

Yes, you should be able to remove them.
But a double ring and bash (which it is!) is ideal really for trails and jumps. I'd leve how it is.0 -
yer but i realy dont use the smaller chainring atall and im trying to shed a few pounds of my bike oh and any other ways to shed a few punds?0

Not without spending loads.New tyres a good start.
You need to take the crank off and remove the small ring via the bolts. You will save about 40g ;-)0 -

woo but then i would take off the shifters and derailler which would save more0

The mech helps keep the chain on! Which is why I would just leave as is really.
Or see how you get on.0 -
i got a gt tempest 1.0 and i converted to a single speed just by taken the smaller ring off which is very easy to do and put on a chain guide which i would recommend you do if you are a hard rider or you can just use the front gear mech as a chain guid and just get rid of the gear shifter.
on the chain ring you want to move keep the long bolts so you can use them for a bash guard otherwise they will cost you to buy.
hope this helps m8!0 -
ye cheers guys i think ill take off the smaller chain ring and the shifter but maybe leave the mech on to act as a sorta chain giude until i can afford a real one
and another thing can anyone suggest a chain guid thatll fit my bike cause i get confused by all this ISCG and things.0
