new front derailleur

hi all,
i need to replace the stock Shimano C102 front derailleur on my '07 GT Aggressor due to it being on its last legs. ive seen this:

...and was wondering if that would be ok to use considering im still running the GT at 8-speed. also, is the clamp diameter stated (28.6-34.9) going to be ok for the seat tube on my GT?

Err, you do realize its discontinued, but other than that it should be ok, clamp diameter will be 34.9 but should include reducing spacers to fit any frame.
