I am looking for advice on wether to wear rain pants over tights on long rides. Or purchase a more high end bib tight that has waterproof qualities? I start early in the morning before sunrise and the temperature may increase 15 to 20 degrees (F) by the end of the ride. Any product suggestions would help.

I guess you are not talking about the UK. I think overtrousers would result in betty swollocks - some water repellant tights (not waterproof) would be more appropriate

I bought some really expensive bike cut goretex overtrousers for commuting. They're fine as long as the ride is short and cold otherwise the sweat buildup would render them useless. I'd never wear them on long rides, better to just wear normal tights.

    Maybe you could try Rainlegs?

The Dragon's Den lot really thought that they were crap, but a lot of people who actually know what they're talking about (riding-wise that is, not making-money-wise  ) think that they are a good compromise in changeable conditions.

I wouldn't. Lycra doesn't really get wet so as long as you're moving you stay warm.

I only wear waterproofs if I have to go somewhere in civvies - and even then I have to take it really easy. No matter how good they are you still get really sweaty.

I have Lusso Max Repel tights and they work well - they're repellant enough for most conditions and I've never been uncomfortable.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

I bought a pair of them about a year ago, but i've never used them - whenever i take them with me, it doesn't rain, despite the forecast. So in that respect they're 100% effective :D
