Rusty chain
Can anyone think of a reason my fairly recently purchased SRAM chain would have corroded so quickly on my winter bike? It was only fitted a couple of months ago. I've tried to keep it clean and lubed, but perhaps I'm getting something horribly wrong. Is there anything I can do to protect it better? The previous chain went the same way, but at the time I put that down to age as I bought the bike second hand and the chain could have been on there quite some time. Now I'm not so sure and think I might well be at fault.
For what it's worth, I've not had the problem on either of my other bikes.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Road salt is a killer, and the recent cold weather has meant that there is a lot of it around. I find that if I ride Friday evening on recently gritted roads, the chain will already be showing signs of rust by Saturday morning if I put it away without cleaning it. The only real solution is to wash it down thoroughly when you get in, and then (if you can) dry it and relube it straight away. I can't face that Friday evening, so end up brushing the rust off Sat/Sun. It still comes up OK, if not pristine, and the last chain/cassette lasted 5,000 miles so I reckon a bit of rust doesn't hurt as long as you stay on top of it.0

Cheers. Good to know the situation might not be irretrievable.0
