Junior racer - alternative to Isla Bikes
My sons (Aged 9) wants his first road bike - mainly for track use - it came as a bit of a blow - when the decathlon sport 2 priced at £260 - was to big (to long) - no problem as I knew the isla bike equivalent was £299 - it came as a further blow when the prices of this has increased by £50 to £349 - + further £35 for a set of cross tyres - I don't mind paying for quality - be he is still growing ! - and the prices seem extreme
I wonder if anyone knows of any otrher junior bikes - that are not to expensive....

Junior bikes (that aren't mtb type with front suss) are very hard to find. I found a Dawes Discovery (hybrid type) for an 11 year old 2 years ago for £200, but these aren't made any more. Isla bikes may be pricey but the costs for decent kit and design don't shrink as the size shrinks. I understand, though that resale or trade in values on Isla bikes are very good, so you could recoup some of the costs when you change up, maybe a lot of the costs. I would go for Isla every time!0

I agree Isla is a good option in a very limited market. I was lucky enough to pick up two of the kids Decathlon bikes before they took them out of their range. I got one of them for £34 as they wanted rid of the stock!!!Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

I searched high and low before buying from Islabike and couldn't find anything cheaper. The bikes are well worth the money and they do offer to buy them back when they are outgrown.
Please try writing 'too' and' to', sorry, but it hurts my brain.............................0 -
