I've got a specialized tricross and just fitted SKS beavertail guards which don't have stays .. they fit really well & don't wobble too much. They fit either 26" or 700c.
just a suggestion as long as your bike has rear seat stay bridge. They only cost £11.99 for the pair!
Alternatively try a loop modified bracket (band-on metal clasp) & fit just above caliper/disc mount on seat stay, that should work.0 -
do you mean you have problems fitting the stays?
We fitted guards to a bike at work which had discs brakes, we actually used one of the mounting bolts to bolt the stay on to the bike.
The bike was never intended to take these kind of guards but they are still fitted and going strong0 -

Where did you buy these? I also own a tricross and have just ditched the raceblades cause they fit poorly.0 -
You may need to put a few subtle bends in the stays to clear the discs to get to any mudguard mounting point.Recipe: shave legs sparingly, rub in embrocation and drizzle with freshly squeezed baby oil.0

Just fitted them yesterday & they're a good fit, although haven't ridden bike yet except around the garden but they appear relatively wobble free.
Easy to fit but be careful with bending rear bracket when adjusting so that guard isn't too high at rear, when bolted through as seatstay bridge will flex. (I only noticed under significant pressure - best to adjust bracket on bench vice and then refit - you don't want to damage the frame).
Caution, when attempting to place rear 'guard M6 bolt through the rear bridge hole as isn't quite big enough (by a very slight margin - about .5mm internal diameter). Either use a 6mm drill bit and enlarge for the SKS supplied bolt or obtain an M5 that will fit through without drilling. I drilled after assessing considering that there is enough material around the hole and an M6 bolt will hold bracket more securely.
On the front 'guard mounting with supplied M6 bolt through fork it is slightly too short & I'd recommend a large washer infront of the bracket to make sure doesn't rotate when tightening. I have used a 75mm black flat head allen key head bolt instead with the nut at the rear of the fork crown. Look at the rear of the fork crown also as with the top of the blades as their profile pinches in and creates a narrow recess to the crown hole it is not possible to fit an M6 nylock nut into there & tighten. I have used a short 10mm sleeve that extends along the bolt length and then place a washer over with bolt at end.
Alternatively at behind fork crown a borrowed sidepull brake allen key nut sleeve retainer could be used (you know the outer nut on rear of caliper brake). - if you use one of these nuts then the supplied bolt should be long enough as the nut will be recessed although you won't have room for an M6 washer!
I'll take some pics of fittings and post them on pink bike if interested? let me know :?:

You do realise that you just said they were easy to fit and then regaled a story 3 paragraphs long about what a pain in the a*se it is dont you0 -
Easy once you know how!
thought my experience might help! :?:
post some pics later..0 -
Get some suitable P-clips and fit the non-driveside stays higher up the seatstay above the brake caliper - means you have to cut-off a lot of excess stay, but when done-up they're are secure as a normal stays. Likewise with the front fork. You may have to splay the stays to fit too.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

thanks for info so far. the specific problem i am having is the plastic safety clips you fit to the braze ons are too big for the area because of the disc brakes. i think some sort of spacer probably 1/2" long with longer bolt would do the job. i have searched for p clips but can't work that one out.
Anyone any pictures of retro fitting sks mudguards?0 -
Here's a link to previous thread to show p-clip on disc brake calipers .. http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=14962063
although I wouldn't have clamped around bleed screw as referred to pics further down page. It would make sense to attached to upper caliper bolt (replace with longer & apply spacers - same for rear).0 -
Obtain clips from here http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Unbr ... k-5058.htm
