What size of overshoes do you get if you have a size 42 shoe. Large are 40-42 or x large 42-44 the ones that i am looking at are Pro Tarmac NPU are these any good or are there better ones available.

I'm very happy wih my Pro Tarmac NPU's. They seem to keep my feet fairly warm and on the only wet ride I've done in them which included flooded roads my feet stayed dry. They also look good and seem to be well made.

I struggled to figure out the sizing. Mine go over size 43 Shimano RT51's and the recommendation was for XL and as I normally take a size 7.5 shoe I don't consider my feet to be XL. Also Shimano shoes are smaller than the size suggests (you have to go up by one or two sizes) so I was tempted to go for a size smaller. However, having discovered that the Pro Overshoes are (I think) made by Shimano I went with the recommended XL size.

The fit around the bottom hole at the front could be better but it takes quite an effort to pull them over the heel so I think the next size down might have been a bit too tight.

If your shoes are Shimano road shoes, I'd go with Large, I think an XL might not provide a good seal around the sole. You should also be OK with another make road shoe but if your shoes have chunkier soles you may find stretching them over the heel to be good muscle building exercise.

    Hope that helps.
