I am looking at getting a new 2009 model hard tail bike. Can anyone point me in the direction of any reviews or give me thier personal opionions or experiances on any of these three bikes?

Giant XTC Attention 1 - £1350ish
Scott Scale 40 - £1250ish
Gary Fisher Paragon - £1300ish

I like the looks best of the Paragon but would love to hear your views!

Thanks!

What about Specialized Stumpjumper HT Comp, I can vouch for it being a GREAT bike!

think you could do better with £1200.

your choice but if i was spending that on a hardtail i would def look at cube reaction. much better spec than those three and look the dogs. my mate has one and its very nice and he loves it, very light as well.

if i had to go for one of those 3, scott. gets great reviews.

  • I got the Scale 40 recently and it's immense. The frame is a work of art. The wheels are begging for an upgrade, however. You get the same ones on an Aspect at £600.

What sort of riding you wanting to do mate?

Do you prefer alu, steel or carbon?
  • The reason i am loooking at these thee is first off they are from my local bike shop and because this place can do me a good deal and do me 24 months intrest free credit so i am kind of "limited" of these 3 or a bike from these brands

Had ride around the car park recently on a Big Sur and a Trek 8000. They both felt great and would probably be very rewarding for full-on XC.

If you're looking for a classic XC bike and can stretch a little, for this price check out the Lapierre pro race 300... If I start racing season after next, I'm seriously considering one of those!

Another vote for the Stumpy Comp.
Mine is a 2007 version (but with a few upgrades) and it's brilliant.

Light but still strong enough to be durable.

I'd worry about the Scale's durability.
  • I went to pedal on in tadley today and test riden a Giant Attention 1 and a Trek 8500. Ive decided to go for the trek, it was an absolutely lovely ride!
