I currently use V8s with trainers on my RockHopper, but the pedals are getting old and Ive got Christmas money burning a hole...
So I'm looking for a new shoe/pedal combo, that wont bust the bank...
Any suggestions?
Thanks

My new combo:
Wellgo MG-1 - soon to have Ti Spindles
Nike Air Morgan 6.0 Shoes
Haven't tried them yet though!0 -
Five Tens whatever the pedal.
I've got the v8 on one and the Gusset on the other. Would like to try the mg1s but what I have at the moment is easily good enough.Current steed is a '07 Carrera Banshee X
+ cheap road/commuting bike0 -
Ditto the 5.10 suggestion. Just be careful not to show them any water!0

Jimbo: Why, because they take so long to dry?Boardman Road Comp '08
Spesh FSR XC Expert '080 -
five tens are very very sticky. great shoes i also recomend v8s/v12s because they're great too0

Wellgo MG-1s are equivalent (they make) DMR V12s

Five Ten's @ CRC
I favour the Fiveten Impact 2 Low.
But, any Fiveten with the 'Stealth' sole will be amazing.
I use DMR V12 Mag's on the SX Trail II. And have just fitted MG1 Ti's to the Stumpy. Both are amazing pedals. But, the MG1 Ti is the same price on ebay as you'll pay for the V12 Mag's in the shops.
The MG1 Ti has a weight limit. So, perhaps just get the regular MG1, which is only about £30.Stumpy, Rockhopper (stolen!) & custom SX Trail II - that should do it!0 -
mcbazza what is weight limit for the ti's am considering getting the spindles0

Closest I've found is this for the DMR Ti shaft upgrade for the V12's.
Which is worrying. As it states no more than 85KG's. And I'm around 90KG!! But, like I said, mine are on the Stumpy, which won't be seeing much in the way of drops/etc. So, no massive stresses on the pedals.Stumpy, Rockhopper (stolen!) & custom SX Trail II - that should do it!0 -
Ah well thats ok then - I am always hovering around 80-82kgs so that shouldnt be a problem!0
-
Thats my weight WITH pies and beers and some chips to go with it - I was 86kgs so thank god I lost that weight last year or I would be breaking the spindles!0
-
Hmmm
I've never gone wrong with DMR V-12's
and a good old pair of waffle soled Vans grips well all day everyday0 -
gcwebbyuk - don't forget the weight of your clothes, gear and water etc.... Not meaning to sound like an arsehole but you could be over the 85 kg limit! Although all these things are made to tolerances so it'll probably be fine.....
EDIT: 5-10's are deffo the best shoes but if you wanna go cheap get yourself down to your local TK-Maxx or Sports World (I think thats what its called). They've got all kinds of Vans / DC/ Globe etc etc skate shoes for £20 or less - that way you don't feel guilty when they're trashed, falling apart and stinking after 6 months.......you bin em and get yourself back down TK-Maxx!0 -
Good point JK - you are right!
Didn't think of it that way, and I don't ride in the nude, so it probably would be near that limit.
May be an incentive to lose more body weight!0
