Scott Addict R2
Was hoping someone could give me some advice...
Am looking at getting a Scott Addict R2 2008 model. I've got a great deal lined up but have read some conflicting info...the guy in my LBS says he has one and its a great all day rider, however in some of the reviews Ive read it says the ride is unforgiving due to the stiffness of the bike - apparently the moulded seat post is a contributing factor....
Can anyone give me some thoughts on this...anyone have one? Whats the ride like? I cant test ride one as the demo bike theyve got is way too small.
Also, Im a bit concerned about the fact the seat posted is fixed...does this cause major issues when transpoting the bike in a car....Im 6 foot 5 tall so any bike I buy has a massive frame anyway, I dont want to incurr any extra awkwardness if I cant get it in the car....
Any other feedback on this bike would be great...cheers

try really hard to ride one. you don't want to shell out that cash then be dissappointed.
that said, the forum/magazine testing consensus is that the Addict is a stiff and responsive frame but that comfort is not its strong point. Your large frame size makes a stiff frame a not bad idea ...
... in the absence of being able to ride one I would say go for it as it makes sense on paper!0 -
Cheers for the advice...ill do my best to get hold of one...I suppose I could always ride the smaller frame they have in the shop and take it on the worst surface i can find! If my soine comes out of the top of my head ill know its too stiff!0

i can't really help on whether it will fit in your car (what kind of car?)
you must be looking at an XL frame which, with an ISP, will be a monster. It would not i suspect fit in my bike boxes though would fit in some of the bigger big backs (Pro Bike Kits bags are massive and good).
If travelling is a concern I would say look for one without the ISP. No point saving a couple of hundred quid and then not being able to transport it.0 -
The moulded seat post is supposed to add to the comfort I heard. I rode the lower Addict model (without the moulded seat post), and thought it was very comfortable. I also rode the cr1 and couldn't really tell any difference...0
