Got out on the south downs this morning. was a bit cold at -2 but good fun. First time ive had my s-works out off road so was setting up the rear shock mainly. was running 160psi and i was getting about half the travel - so its down at 115psi now and feels really good.
Very impressed with the rs recons as well. nice and plush straight out of the box.

That's not cold!
This is cold:
Schwalbe City Jets - just the job on ice! (Or perhaps I was just too lazy to swap em on a cold morning)
Pics taken today around Farnborough, Hants - the last two nights have been below -8C here! That last pic is the Basingstoke Canal, frozen across. I managed to smash a chunk of ice out to see how thick it was - 4 inches or so.
(And no I wasn't riding across the canal, tempting as it was!)0 -
I will be up on them there downs too at some point soon I hope!
Which area of the downs was that?0 -
Oooo... ice riding, now that's suicidal 8) .It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -

Thing is, I made it across that huge puddle in the pic several times with barely a slide, then a few mins later I came to another one where there was a family with some kids playing on the ice.
Headed across, got cocky and went for a big back-wheel skid - only to discover that once you've broken the traction you can't get it back again.
Result... lost both wheels sideways and slid gracefully across the ice on my side, still attached to the bike, having put a big dent in the ice with the back of my helmet :oops:0 -
Am from Eastbourne - so would usually be doing the Beachy Head area - but may make it over there - and will def give you a shout!
Thats when am back on my bike again though!0 -
Ice biking sounds fun!
Remember pulling an icey skid once years back - still clipped into my spds - was histerical!
Think the cold numbed the pain of the fall0 -

Love this cold weather. It seems like the first time this year I've got home and haven't had to spend an hour cleaning the bike, I don't think there was a speck of mud on it.Northwind wrote: It's like I covered it in superglue and rode it through ebay.0

yup inspite of my best efforts my bike was fairly clean after a quick swing though swinley forest to have a look.0
