Really want to get these.

Just wondered if they will fit? said to be 11T, I have a Tiagra rear mech.

I have an SRAM chain, used to have a Shimano, will it matter?

Also will I notice any diffo between the normal and ceramic ones?

Thanks
Will.

  • they look cool, but they're aluminium so they'll wear quickly, and there will be no 'noticeable' difference bettween normal jockey wheels, you won't feel it through the drivetrain if thats what you mean, id' upgrade to a dura ace or ultegra rear mech then you will notice the difference!

but if your heart is set on it, yes they will fit, all chains for the same number of gears are the same width eg all 9 speed chains are the same width so shimano/sram it doesn't matter

No point in upgrading mech if I am on 9spd :(

So what is the best jockey wheels that don't wear quickly to get?

I think my current jockey wheels are worn, as I am cycling along it just feels stiff, like when you run your finger through water, it does not feel sort of stiff if you know what I mean, try running it through something thick and it is, that is what it feels like.
  • Hi, they should fit, ive used a pair of these before, but on a campag setup. After a couple of rides i went back to ceramics, as there more quiet and run more smoothly! Saying that i do like everything to run smoothly and quietly, any noises and it does my head in. Wouldnt say there noisey but you here more of a tic tic tic. And to be honest, when there on you cant see the how cool and funky they look as they soon get dirty, and get covered up by the rear mech, and they wear out more quickly as previously suggested.

On the plus side, you will save about 5 grams!

Maybe I'd be better getting a Dura-Ace 9SPD rear mech for 50 quid?

Only can get a short cage though, if that would fit?

  • compared to tiagra dura ace is smoother, faster and higher quality, ive ridden dura ace rear with 105 shifters and it's amazing compared to 105 or tiagra throughout

I've found that the Tacx sealed jockeys are a good upgrade, with better shifting than the standard jockeys.

As for more expensive mechs shifting better. IME this is marginal. The first thing I change if I want smoother, more precise shifting is the cables - all my bike run Gore ride-ons nowadays.

my current setup on the roadie is: Simano shifters, Gore sealed cables, Ultegra mech, Tacx jockeys.

One of the jockey wheels says Narrow on and the other Centered G Pulley, so where do they go?

Does the centered G Pulley one go on the top one nearer the cassette?

    Thanks
