to fit a what?
cant be the same bike as one is 80mm and one is 120mm travel !"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

If its for the Marin, you want to keep it at the same length of the current suspension. otherwise the geometry will change.
that'l be 120mm..0 -
cheers mate!0
-
The top one is apparently 800mm travel! That would be interesting handling!Boardman Road Comp '08
Spesh FSR XC Expert '080 -
completely didnt think about that would moving upto a 130mm or down to 100mm be best or would i have to stick to a 120mm?0
-
Depends on the actual length of the forks... Like, I replaced an SR Suntour 120mm fork with a Rockshox 130mm, and the actual difference in relaxed length was only around 4mm. There's more to length than travel, which complicates things a bit.Uncompromising extremist0

how do i know what size to buy then off the net?0
-
so what bike are they going on? replacing what?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

How about these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=13113
I know they are £40 more than you say you want to spend but would be worth the extra cash, adjustable travel too 80 -130 so you can choose which is best for your bike by using the U-turn feature!!'08 Stinky and an old Saracen X-tort Single speed

are these
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=13113
better than these then?

There are some differences, the reason I suggested the 302 is because of the U-Turn feature so that you can adjust the travel from 80 - 130mm to suit your bike as you were unsure of the travel you wanted.
The 318 is an air shock so is quite a bit lighter and also has no U-turn so it is fixed travel meaning you would have to decide on travel length before you buy.
I have aslo noticed that CRC have upped the price on the 302 since I first posted the link so they might be too much more than you would want to spend, although in my opinion it would be worth the extra.'08 Stinky and an old Saracen X-tort Single speed

318 has a better damping system (Motion COntrol) than that on the 302."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

Ok,
The Domain forks you have listed will not fit your frame, they are a 1.5" steerer so they are too big, also they are 180mm travel so a bit too much for your bike!!
Also the Tora forks you listed may not be as good as some of the others you listed in previous posts.
What about these :

£180 at checkout??'08 Stinky and an old Saracen X-tort Single speed

I'd put the Tora 318 well above a Zocchi 33!
Tora SL is the XC version. Go for the 130mm Uturn or air version, pref 318 version. Are a stiff, sturdy fork with the same damper as in the high end forks.0 -
But Merlin don't have any Tora 318's with a steerer long enough to fit TV's bike!!
If he is wanting to get some forks before their sale ends he will have to make do with whatever is in stock that will fit!! otherwise wait and save some more cash and get the better forks at full price!!'08 Stinky and an old Saracen X-tort Single speed

Some corking deals around! With the alu steerer only slightly heavier than a coil Rev and a bit stiffer!0
-
What about this, you get a frame included too!!!
http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=produ ... egoryId=77
Bargain?
You could sell the frame on afterwards!! (although the steerer on the forks may not be long enough for the Marin!! Although it is tempting be careful)'08 Stinky and an old Saracen X-tort Single speed

This is why the steerers are short on the deal 318 ;-) They order in bulk to fit the frames!
But yes, a great deal! Frame a bit basic, but durable.0 -
guys you are amazing cheers!! may have to go for supersonics but may have a look at the merlin malt too!! lol what a steal0
-
Good deal, but wont take the abuse the northside will.0
-
one thing, how do you know if its got a long enough steerer/ same withe the malt deal?0
-
With the Malt deal, the fork is cut to fit it, with room to spare for spacers.
Most steerers with new forks are 260mm long.0 -
say i went for the merlin deal with an 18.5 or 19.5 frame how long do you think the steerer will be? sorry for all the questions rly appreciate it0
-
195 or 205, just like the seperate cheap Tora deal ;-)0
-
ok cheers bit short then!!0
