Nero Corsa size

Hi,
I am close to buying a Ribble Nero Corsa bike, but am debating weather it is worth the 4hr trip up there to size what frame I'd like/need. I currently ride a 55" alu 7005 bike and I am 5ft 11, and 76kg. The sizes for the Nero corsa are:
S (47cm C to Top)
M (51cm C to Top)
L (54cm C to Top)
XL (57cm C to Top)
XXL (59cm C to Top)
I would guess at the 54cm, but am not sure how the sloping top tube frame differs size wize to my vertical one. I wondered is there anyone who could suggest the correct size frame for me if they have the bike and are a similar build to myself...?
Cheers for any advice,
Tim

what is your current bike make and model? - can you find the geometry out - you need to try and find what the effective top tube length is as this is much more important that seat tube length.
if you cant find it - then stand your bike upright and measure from roughly the centre of the head tube (at the top - when viewed from the side) and take the tape horizontally until it meets the seattube or seatpost - again measure to roughly the centre of the tube as viewed from the side.
now compare this to the nero frame sizing geometry on the ribble site.
let us know how you get on!0 -
thanks alot for the help. Mine is actually a ribble 7005, not sure why I didn't think of comparing the geometry on their site!
I measured along the top tube to the marks on the chart on the ribble geometry page. Mine seems to be 57cm, which I think makes it the 54cm frame...
Does this mean the 54cm carbon frame would be best?.. It seems to have the same tt length too http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/FrameGeometry.asp

Oh well - you're sorted then.
If the TT sizes are the same then you are sorted. Only thing is the Nero corsa is slightly taller atthe front end which will makeit more comfortable but feel different as the position is more upright!0 -
cant help on sizing, but would be interested to know what size you end up with and what you think of the bike.
i'm 5' 11" and Was looking at the same bike before christmas, how much is it going for at the moment?0 -

There are pre built ones here: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/SpecialEditionBikes.asp which are very good value (the dura ace one is reviewed on this site), or you can custom build your own on the bikebuilder part of the site (choosing the nero corsa frame, and adding all the parts) which is probably what I would do.
As im quite sure the 54cm is my size I think I will order it soon, and let you know what I think! I should guess it will be in a different league to my current alu one!

What makes you think they are they same?
The Nero Corsa geometry wasn't on that link from Ribble you provided BTW.
really? I assumed the dedaccai with sloping top tube was it... Which size nero corsa would have the same top tube length as my 54cm then? are there any geometry sheets available for the nero corsa?

Yeh the 54cm should be about right for someone 5'11", you might a longer stem than you have on the Alu bike though.thiscocks wrote:I should guess it will be in a different league to my current alu one!
I doubt there'll be that much of a difference.....0 -

cool, thanks for that. I guess like you say, the 54 would be about right. Btw how do you rate the frame compared to say a Wilier Mortirolo or Izoard which I am also considering...?
