never thought i would get a tire that would defeat me, trying to mount, a contie sport contact 1.3, onto a dt swiss 4.2D rim

gave up after 50 minutes, so went onto the Rigida ZAC 19 rims, fitted fine

guess its a 2 man jobbie with the 4.2D's? the Rigida's are so heavy, compared to the 4.2Ds

only advice i can give is the same for all rims.

start at the side opposite the valve hole and after getting the frst bead on, make sure it is in the middle of the rim, as thats where it is slackest, then do the second, again starting at the end opposite the valve hole.

i think i tryed that, but

i think a week on the less tight rims, will loosen the fit, if you know what i mean, will try after a week of riding, at at 80 psi

also the bike sits, lower, by a fair bit! not thought of that!

let us know how you get on, iirc the dt rims are quite awkward for fitting tyres to so you are not alone or doing anything wrong i wouldnt have thought.

Warm the tires up so they are more pliable and also smear a small amount of washing up liquid on the bead of the tyre.

Does not fix the problem of the tyres but make you feel a lot better.
I don't mind what they say... as long as they say its enormous

fixed , i filed down the wheels to fit

    that would be easier!

i just stuck them on the oem wheels, and tbh, love the free rolling feel, and oh so quiet!

I was gonna say have you tried putting a 29inch tyre on a 26 inch rim, they go on dead easy. You do get a few problems with the tube ballooning out but a bit of gaffer tape sorts that out too!

had the same problem on my mate's bike i don't get why we have to trim or file rims down.....shouldn't they be to exact specs and if not ....should they be replaceble under warrenty since it would be impossible to get them on...unless 2 people try to do it.

Only asking since if he ever gets a puncture...his screwed LOL
