Twisted Reynolds531 FrameSet

Last summer I was struck by an SUV, while riding my Trek 730 Road Bike. Although I'm
getting a NEW Trek 7.7FX out of this, the insurance Co. is leaving me with my beloved
bike. Is it worth my while to have the 531 (forks, too) twisted back? We must have 50Kmiles
together; 27 years , and although I know I'll LOVE my NEW bike,
I'd like to keep it, even making a project out of it. My #2 is a Vitus 979 Duralinox frameset,
(Moto ProLight) and that travels as FAST and FAR as I could want. Even letting my Trek go
to a good home would be better than cutting it up to fit in the trash.
Just trying to decide,

P.S. I went to the hospital, but after Xrays and a CAT scan, ended up with Ibuprofen
for my shoulder, and a Tetanus shot, with a broken helmet.

Take it to a framebuilder to get it asessed.

    Ouch.
  • I have a Peugeot road bike that was driven over by a mad woman. I'm gonna keep it as evidence, then cut it up and practice brazing on it.

A framebuilder should be able to rejig your frame - either through cold-setting or if badly twisted, to re-braze - the latter obviously requiring a respray.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I bent my beloved Pearson on a recent leJog.
Bob Jacksons in Leeds retubed it and retracked the frame and then resprayed it.
It looks brand new and to think I nearly chucked it!

If you love the bike, you won't regret it.

What all of it? Will you also get the lugs replaced at some point, so it becomes a Trigger's broom?
