specialized hard rock

Hi, I am thinking of doing my 1st mtb upgrade. I have a 2007 specialized hard rock with a rst gila plus t7 fork which i am thinking of replacing. Has anybody got any suggestion to what would be a sensible upgrade in relation to the price of the bike. Any help would be great. I have tried looking on the forums but was returned with over 500 pages of info but when you look at the posts very few are about forks. Cheers
