I can't ride!

For over a month now I haven't been able to ride due to a painful hemmorhoid on my butt. Been to docs and got put on suppositories (mm lovely) and thankfully it's now starting to get better. Doc seemed to think that being sat on the bike could have caused it as it's a clot in a blood vessel brought on by sitting on hard surfaces.
Anyone else suffered from this after being on the bike too much (and brave enough to own up to it
)?
I'm guessing you don't want to see pics..
I'm gagging to get back out there, done everything I can do to the bike maintenance-wise and all I can do now is look at it while I wait for this thing on my butt to get bored and censored off

not being able to ride? what a pain in the censored !
(sorry, just couldn't resist it)
I did "sand" my jacksie back in the summer, one of the most painfull things I've ever done. Shorts must have got a little "builder" with all the mud and water flying about in Morzine and I'd managed to fill my crack with grit and mud. Got to lunch time and had no choice but to park breakfast in a little cafe in Les Gets. Went for the traditional clean up and well, sanded myself. Horrible it was.
My mate can't ride at the moment, he managed to cut his finger off at the last knuckle cleaning his bike. (he'll no doubt read this)
maybe tune your riding position so your weight is dispersed over a different area.
You could even go so far as to look into those suspension seat posts...
I have had the horrible "numb willy" problem before from riding but that was due to lack of blood to the little chap - I altered the saddle angle and my geometry slightly and now everything is hunky dory...
But yep, been thinking about changing saddle/angles/sus post.
The last few rides before this flared up I had altered the angle so that could have been the cause, putting pressure on bits that weren't used to it perhaps.
Nothing worse than having a nice shiny bike and not being able to ride it!

I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
Been there, done that. Simple rules -
1. Cleanliness is next to godliness. You need to keep your barking spider shinier than a new penny.
2. Plenty of roughage in the diet - vegetables, fruit, all bran, syrup of figs, that sort of thing. Makes dropping the kids off at pool a lot easier and less likely to bring your farmers down.
3. Get a good pair of padded shorts, and team that up with a saddle with a decent "love groove" down the center - e.g. an SDG Bel Air or WTB Rocket V. You should have your saddle set so that your "sit bones" are taking the pressure on the most thickly padded part of the saddle, not putting it all on your love groove.
4. By the way, did I mention keeping clean???
5. If you can, visit a herbalist and see if you can get some comfrey ointment - it's a natural version of good old Preparation H and works wonders on the old Emmas, and any other bruising for that matter.
6. Oh, and WASH YOUR RICKER!!!!
Final piece of advice - DON'T try riding until it's completely cleared up.

doc gave me magic cream with an anaesthetic in which helped immediately.
Contrary to popular belief, piles are not casued by sitting on cold hard surface. Your doc is a pillock. They are caused by excess pressure (as stumpyjon said, sitting on the pan for ages and or straining are the main causes.)
Fortunately mine is a distant memory, with no apparent scarring  ....
everything that dave said, but I would also say....MAKE SURE YOU WASH IT PROPERLY....that itchiness that you get with piles is mucus escaping from your bahookie....get some wet wipes for during the day and wash thouroughly morning and night.
H.G. Wells.
I can echo the above advice, I have suffered and now all Is back to good. The above advice Is about spot on, and I can say that you do not get them from sitting on your bike. Mine started while away on exercise (army) how and why they started then I have know idea.

If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
It was quite gross, I wont post up the pics we took in A&E.
He was cleaning his Nomad on a workstand, spun up the back wheel and from what I can gather put a sponge to the rotor to clean it and it got sucked in. Took his hand in and his finger got dragged into the spider bit near the centre of the rotor. Took the end off on a ragged angle.
I called around on my way home because they were talking hours for an ambulance. We bagged it up and took it down to A&E. There was a bit of tooing and frowing between A&E and the finger specialist in Swansea but long story short it couldn't be reattached.
So he's lost the end of his right middle finger. Couldn't drive for two weeks. Probably 2 months before he can ride. Probably months again after that before he'll be confident enough of grip to ride DH and the Doc said at least two years where it will be painful in the cold, which is handy when your a year-around all-weather rider in Wales.
Be careful out there kids.
The diagnosis did involve me getting into the fetel position while a gloved finger went up my bum!
He prescribed me supositories and some lactulose - liquid laxative - to make it easier for me to have a number 2 - i was going to keep some of the stuff to play tricks on people but used it all up in the ened :x
