Will these tyres fit these rims?

I'm new to the world of biking and don't know whether rims are one size fits all in relation to the width of tyres or if they're very specific.

I own a Boardman Mountain Bike Comp 08 which has 26" Richet MY 2009 Pro Disc rims and am thinking of buying these tyres http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=26231, (the 1.4" versions) will they fit?

Also will I need to buy thinner inner tubes to accomodate the 1.4" tyres?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, they should do. Will need new tubes.

Is a heavy tyre for a semi slick! That is 140g heavier than my 2.3 contis!
  • Thnx for response. Would you say that they are too heavy? i.e. will they still give me significant gains on tarmac over the big tread tyres that came with the bike?

They will be quicker than your knobblies but a lighter slick will accelerate quicker! Look at Specialized Fatboys and Schwalbe City Jets

I've got 1" Specialized All Condition Pro's on mine, they roll great on the road.
