Hi,

Im currently trying to find a good winter packet that is windproof and breathable and im not having much luck and its doing my head in  Ideally I dont want to spend more than £40 on one.

Ive found this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123 and it sounds good although I read somewhere that its way too thin for winter use, and this - http://www.discountcyclesdirect.co.uk/p ... ts_id=6574 but this isnt breathable anough.

I was looking at the Altura Stream which seems to be a good jacket inbetween of these to, but I cannot find a medium yellow for sale anywhere.

I dont plan on riding in really cold temperatures, ie, 0 degrees or less and I currently have a HH Dry base layer in my collection and thats it. Part of me thinks the Cropton is actually a good idea as when the weather gets better in spring I wont need to get rid of it as quickly as say the Night Vision jacket, and for now just get an extra base layer or jersey to wear under it, but even then would I be warm enough?

Does anyone one of these, are they any good at warmth and keeping the wind off you, yet still be breathable?

Thanks...

Typical, just after posting my question, I did a bit more searching and found this - http://www.evanscycles.com/products/alt ... gn=froogle, although the black is sold out, and the yellow is alot more money for some reason!!

Does anyone have the Night Vision windproof jersey, not jacket? does it keep you warm enough with just a baselayer, and is there a medium in black for sale anywhere!!! :(

I have a Cropton and no it's not breathable - at all.

It's nylon and has no armpit zips or back vents or anything.Get sweaty and you're really hot and sweaty - definite 'boil in the bag'

And it's barely waterproof - more than a shower sees it wet through and sticking to you.

On the plus side it's very light and it folds up into its own back pocket, with an elastic belt built in so it's very easy to carry.

I use mine when it's seriously cold and I want a windproof for shortish 30 minutes or so rides, as it's very windproof and it keeps me warm inside it, but I'm not going to be out for long enough to build up a serious sweat.

Or as a backup layer if I'm going-out when it's really cold and want something to put on if I end-up fixing a p*nct*re or something.

I think I paid £15 for mine - you gets what you pay for I guess...
