Need help with bars
I had my riding position checked this week.
Amongst a couple of other things one problem was my bar width. I need some wider ones - 44cm.
I really like the shape of my bars on the Spesh Allez I have . . . I am looking for something of similar shape, wider and ideally an upgrade (eg lighter), without spending a fortune.
My current favourites are Bontrager (race lite, I think - they're drilled at the ends).
Any recommendations?

Allezbars are:
Specialized Expert, 6061 alloy, short-reach drop, ergonomic top shaping, 31.8mm
If that means anything.
Link below shows the bike.

to be honest, you're not going to get a whole lot lighter than the std fit ones - if you need wider ones then fair enough.
You need to find out the specs with regard to reach and drop then look for something similar. Specialized bars tend to be fairl y compact - about 70mm reach and 130ish drop - FSA have a range of 'compact' bars about the same specs or you could always try some of the specialised ones - the pro-road are the aluminium bars and they do an S-Works carbon bar which is nice:

not cheap though - they are flat on the top and really rather nice,
they also make a combined bar/stem called the barmac which is also really sweet but about £2500 -

Hi there.
The Bontrager bars have a very square profile on the tops - which actually makes them seem wider than they are. I've got the carbon version of the race lite ones, and they took a bit of getting used to.
There's lots of room on the tops for climbing, but the square curve did mean that my wrists were banging against them when sprinting out of the saddle holding deep into the drops.
After a few rides I stopped noticing though, and have been very happy ever since.

Many people find the FSA Compact bars - long extensions make them great if you like riding on the dropsMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
