Hi, Is anyone using the SHIMANO M424 SPD pedals out there? they look good and low price. Shall I risk them or should I better buy the M647? THANKS FOR YOUR HELPFUL ADVICES !

Have been using the Shimano M424 for a long time and had no problems with them apart from the one bearing failing after about 5000 miles. Also use DX M647 off road, stronger cage better bearings.
The main difference between the 2 pedals is the 424 has the old style closed mechanism for the cleat and the DX is an open mechanism. For XC the DX 647 is the best pedal I have used.0 -
