Got 4 stars on here at £1500 - Pike and a Float for £880 - has to be good
Good grief, that's a deal and a half; I can't believe you can score a rig with that spec for less than £900... and with Mint graphics too! Wonder if Joe Burt would scribble on my Pitch for me...0 -
Couldn't resist that , either - got it for 880 quid from Wiggle - it looks the dogs - sold my MC Fury on TeaBay for £500 and the Felt arrived yesterday - it really is a steal - all that spec and it weighs sub-30lb with shiny white flats and a white Charge spoon saddle, white grips and a white Spesh bottle cage (remember them?) - now got to thrash it for 4 months to get fit for the VTT Portes du Soleil at end of June - can't wait!If Wales was flattened out, it'd be bigger than England!
Planet X Ti Sportive for Sportives & tours
Orange Alpine 160 for Afan,Alps & dodging trees
Singlespeed Planet X Kaffenback for dodging potholes
An On-One Inbred for hard-tail shenanigans...0 -
Cube Fritzz- the one or
Lapierre Spicy/zesty 516 upwards, or
Trek Remedy 7 upwards
the only bikes that should be considered0 -
I've just parted with cold hard cash and put a deposit down on a Trek Remedy 8 so that's my recommendation. Quite a pricey beast but fook me, what a ride.0
-
Paid 2000 for my ex 9 i'm happy with that price and the bike 8)0

WMB (March 09) has just done a full susser for a grand article:
Overall scores out of 10:
Haro Sonix (£900) - 5
Kona One20 Deluxe (£1000) - 6
Focus Super Bud Expert (£1149) - 6
Univega Alpina SL-5 (£1040) - 7
Merida TFS 500-D (£1000) - 7
Trek Fuel Ex 5.5 (£1000) - 8
Specialized FSRxc Comp (£1000) - 9
Cannondale Prophet 2 (£1199) - 9
Now I reckon the Prophet and Super Bud are NOT £1000 bikes so should really be dropped from the list imo.You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -

Glad I could help - paid £1000 for mine but cycle to work so about £600 in the end. Notice its back up to £1,101.04 but still value IMO0 -

£4690 -
I had a look at the Otero Super. Thought it was cheap and heavy - parts took a downgrade as well with the 2009 version - the Tora fork was dropped for example. Boardman FS range is probably the cheapest you want to consider for full suss - £800.You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
ok thanks, thats too much outta my price range, but out of interest what (roughly) sort of weight are we talking here? My mate has a carrera banshee which i think comes in aorund 38lbs so would you say it is heavier or lighter than this?0
-
Banshee is a beast and it is not as heavy as that. - I'd say it weighs in the low to mid 30s but you'd have to check to be sure.
Hardtail is the way to go at this price point imo - you'll get much more bike for your money. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
Standard Banshee is 17kg with pedals - 37.4lbs0
-
Interesting thread supersonic, its amazing what you can get for your money compared to say 10 year ago ! Might I chuck this one in the mix, no body seems to know much about them but it looks good to me and other versions of this brand seem to get decent reviews im not after a new bike right now but if i was i would seriously consider this - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=254530

Hey guys
I am quite new to all of this MTB stuff, but am keen to get into it, after a recent trip to the lake district where I rented a bike and got going on some hills and tracks ....
So now I am looking at purchasing a bike for myself.
I'm sort of stuck between the Specialized FSR XC Expert:
http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkMode ... 121&eid=95 (+- £1270)
and the Specialized StumpJumper FSR Comp:
http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkMode ... 192&eid=95 (+- £1560)
----
So my questions are:
Is the StumpJumber really worth the extra £300?
For a beginner, is there really any difference that I'll notice between the shocks on the bikes?
In terms of usage and durabilty, which bike in terms of it's kit, is better?
Hope someone can comment, as from what I've seen the reviews on both bikes are pretty decent.
Thanks

Stumpy is higher up the product line than the FSRxc. The basic Stumpy Comp is better than the FSRxc Pro for example.
It's only 'better' of course if you like it. Best bet is to go and try them and see if you think the difference in quality is worth the extra dosh. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -

Anyone any experience of these??0 -

This is the cheapest I found on the net: http://www.wizzbike.com/index.php?main_ ... cts_id=791
Probably cheaper somewhere else though by the sounds of it. My lbs would discount 10% from list. Place I bought from gave me £350 of bike gear with the ex8.0 -
any thoughts on the boardman full sus pro 09? reviews been good in mags.0
