The bulb went on my Lumicycle HID and at £80 to replace it I'm considering their new LED.

Has anyone got the new Lumicycle LED and, if so, what do you think of it?

The more clicks I get the higher it creeps up the google radar :)

im interested in a comparison between their HIDs and new LEDs.

What I have just read though, is that the boost mode can only be used for 3 mins, before it reverts back to high... seems odd, but if thats the case it is only 600 lumens not 850 lumens for normal running...

Someone please chime in and tell me thats wrong, or if you have any links to a comparison review of the two systems.. (cant find one by googling :()

  • 600 lumens for an extended period is ashtonighingly good. It it really does it, I'll be very interested.

If anyone from Lumicycle is listening I'll be doing a lot of early season Audax rides and will be happy to test and review against solidlights and fenix. If it's really good I'll consider it for the sleigh next year..

If you can live with an eighty minute life before putting a new cell in - check out the p7 threads - fifty quid for light batteries and mount and that puts out six hundred lumens or so ?

I have seen those, been looking at buying one or two, battery life is whats put me off, as I like getting into a flow and just riding, wonder if you could jerry rig a couple of batts into parallel...

I think you probably could - but dont you stop for a drink or bite to eat ? 80 mins at night is a fair old time.

  • Just made a rather big investment in the Lumicycle LED3 front light...went out with it tonight....all I can say is oh my word....these are absolutely aweome, even on the low setting they were extremely bright, on high and boost mode they are like flood lights. It was a shock getting them int he post the battery is minute, I have just gone from a old set of SMART Nicad 10w and 2.4 watt lights , the LED 3 weighs about 4oo g in total and are a bottle mount battery, the Li - ion battery is so small it fits under my Stem . The multiple mode function is brill, the flashing mode is scary on the road , guaranteed to ensure you are seen. As a long term investment (my SMARTs lasted 6 years) I would say do it, particularly as they were cheaper than the Halide set . Its well worth the investment....
