Old style head set configuration

Hi, I have a Trek 7000 which I bought in 1994. Over the years I've replaced everything with better quality than it came with normally. All except the front suspension which I now cannot find any compatible shocks for in the shops I use. I've had a bit of a sniff around on ebay, no joy.

I've got a frame which I love with fairly new "everything" except the steering. Any suggestions?

I don't know that frame, but I assume from your post that the fork has a threaded steerer tube. Is it 1.1/8" diameter ?

In theory there is nothing to stop you removing the old headset and fitting a new A-headset, which could then accept a "standard" 1.1/8" non-threaded fork. You will probably have to change your stem too.

As Marvin said, buy new Aheadset and stem, then sit back and spend oodles of hours deciding what forks you want (80-100mm). Provided you have 1"1/8 sizes.

If it's an old frame, it will probably have a 1" headtube, therefore you'll need a 1" headset, many companys still make these........including Chris King, (if you wanna stretch that far..)

then you're gonna need a fork with a 1" steerer, these are a little more difficult to find, I had this on my old Orange C16......
