Whats your technique/style?

on many trails there are jumps and places you can get a bit of air, but i never know how to get the best out of them...
i think i tend to preload my suspension and "jump" my bike over them, but what watching DVD's/videos on pink bike, it looks so effortless.
is it better to just ride them, and let the slope take you up, or should i be preloading and forcing my bike in the air?
also, on drop offs, i tend to lift my from wheel and drop down them, but to get some distance on the drop i take it its just down to speed? or should i be bunnyhopping down them?
just thought of another thing, on steep fast sections of trail, whats the best way to use your brake to control your speed? is it better to dab the brakes, drag the brakes, or lock the back wheel and use the tyre tread to slow down?
i tend to drag the brakes, but that cant be good for pad wear/break life surely?
Cheers

On the breaking tging, locking the back break sounds like a one way ticket to crashvill but Im no expert lol!
Feather the brakes, and apply varying pressure without locking up when descending. (Or just let off the brakes- faster you go, smoother it is).
Same with drops and jumps. You wanna go further, then go faster. If the jump is well built with a nice transition (slope of the takeoff) then it should do all the work for you mate.
