Looking to find out if anyone has any experience of the Shimano shoes that are moulded to your foot shape.

I was looking to visit Cyclefit to get a new set of footbeds made up and could be doing with new shoes at the same time. Cyclefit do the Shimano shoes that also get moulded to your foot shape and I wanted to know if anyone is riding with these shoes and how they perform. I have always had Sidi shoes and had no complaints so I am wary about changing to a shoe that I am not used to.

Any thoughts.??

The guys at Cyclefit say the mouldable shoe is a lot of improvement for not much outlay - they really rate them. Bont have a fully mouldable shoe as well.

FWIW Shimano don't actually make the shoes, they're produced by someone else - predominantly DMT in Italy. If you're looking to pay top dollar, then look at the Bont shoes - they are the biggest maker of inline speed skates and have many years of experience with the materials - I have two pairs of Bont skates and they are well made. A number of the GB track cycling used them at the Olympics - just the sponsorship deal with Adidas prevents them from publishing the fact.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I'd go with the Bont's too (if you can afford them). Apparently the Shimano ones need to be moulded by a Shimano dealer with the correct tools/oven which could be a PITA if you don't have one nearby, the Bont's you just fax an outline of your foot and they can then be done at home by putting them in the oven and moulded as many times as you like. And they look class. I've wanted a pair even since I saw them.

in what sense do they mean improvement, comfort? power transfer?
