Changing Mavic freehub bodies

I'm about to take delivery of my new bike . The new bike comes equipped with Shimano and my existing bike with Campag . I understand it is possible to swap the freehub from my current wheels (Ksyrium SL) to the new wheels (Ksyrium Elites) and vice versa , and then use the SLs on the new bike . How do I do this ? Is it easy enough to do at home ? I do nearly all my own maintenance except wheel truing and would prefer to do it my self if poss.

It takes five minutes and two allen keys... The freehubs should be interchangeable if your SLs are not too old.0

Thanks James , they''re not that old 2006 , from memory . OK so I need two allen keys but what do I acutually need to do ?? Anything I need to watch out for . (I'm a bit nervous about taking things apart or off for the first time in case springs / bearing unexpectedly pop out and I can't put them back again .)Luke0

Just do it in on a clean surface in a contained area. The pawls and springs are prone to pop out and you don't want to lose them if they do (though they are easy enough to put back together). Just be methodical in taking them apart and there's not much to go wrong. If one of the wheels is being obstinate coming apart, try the other first and you'll be able to see how they work. Recent Mavic wheels all have the same freehub (FTS-L).
Sometimes it can be tricky to hold in the pawls and slot the freehub back onto the axle but just requires a bit of care and patience.
I sent you a link to Mavic's instructions with more detail. PM me if you need more...0 -
Cheers James , didn't get the link though .......did you PM me with it ???Luke0
