I have an Inbred 456 for which i can currently only use full length gear outers. The gears are indexed perfectly, but i am having problems going down the casette due to the increased friction caused by the full length outers, so i was wondering if there is some way of converting the frame so i can run interupted cable outers so that i can use the sealed XTR cable set? I have changed the cables several times, and tried stainless and teflon cables and lube them every time, but i still get the same problem, so thought it was worth trying.

Unles you braze on the stops, on use roadie style clip on stops (not very good) there is nothing you can do.

Is the spring in the mech ok?

Yeah the spring is fine. When i go up and down the cassette pushing the mech by hand it's fine, then as soon as i try it with the shifter it takes ages for it to eventually go into ninth.

If there is nothing available has anyone made something that would fit, or got anything made up? Must be pretty simple if you have the right tools.

Yeah i had thought about that, but was hoping i could try a cheaper option first. I know someone with Gore cables who is very happy fith them, so i might as well just bite the bullet and empty my wallet out........again  The spending never stops!

the 2 i mentioned are a fair bit cheaper, also gore ones were on special on crc the other day,and once on they are pretty much fit and forget, you will probably change your bike before the cables
