Hi,
I need a new headset for a Giant Bowery.
I think it's an integrated headset, but it's slightly different to the ones I've had before.
I'm used to the Campagnolo compatable ones, with a 45 degree angle.
The One on the Ginat Bowery seems to be a different shape...more square.

Can anyone advise me on what sort I need?

thx
R

are there cups pressed into the head tube?

If yes it is an internal/Zero stack headset.

remove cups and measure the available insertion depth and get one to suit.

Or read the numbers on the old bearings and replace. (or what are the seal colours).

  • yea it is an internal h/set
my point is that the angle of the bearings is different.
My campag ones are 45 but these ones seem nearly vertical.
    Can anyone advise?

I have just built up a Bowery, and my LBS used a Cane Creek headset. The bit that fits into the top part of the head tube has a slope to it, but this is only there to accommodate the change in size between the diameter of the head tube below and the diameter of the stacking rings above.

Is that what you are seeing?

OK, red seals will be a 36 X 36 degree bearing standard FSA/TH bearings.
Cane Creek use a blue or grey seal and have a 36X 45 degree contacts.

while campag use yellow/white and have 45 X 45 degree surfaces.

  • it's a crane creek.
    Seals are green.
What do the angles refer to?
